Hamilton version of Eyes Wide Shut

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

I’ve been slowly catching up on many movies that I have missed. The latest is Eyes Wide Shut. I find that the indy-style of movies are better suited for my tastes in contrast to rehashed Pocahontas plots.

The cult from the movie would be mirrored in the Hamilton Way with the following differences:

- if you show up in something OTHER than a taxi, you are immediately disqualified for being ‘above your station’….

- only the head of the party may show up in a ‘motorized vehicle’ but the best he would be allowed would be a 1986 Plymouth Reliant K car…..no AC…..

- the head of the cult (which would actually be called a schism, unfortunately none of the members can actually spell….) wears only a Mickey Mouse costume.

- in place of sex acts, there will be darkened rooms filled with people exchanging hand-jobs for information(mostly gossip on how Bob Young got invited…) and poorly grown weed from north end grow-ops (aka Wentworth st chemical plants)

- film will climax in a full-circle jerk with all aimed at a hole in the ground in hopes to fertilize the next round of mary jane, shortly there after the group is broken up by the cops who only report that one baggie of drugs were found.

So, if you know of anyone who will fund our re-make, I am open to offers.

Good news for Hamilton

York U to host track & Field PanAm games!

That’s right Hamilton, the games you idiots (plural to include Bob Young & gang) lost is going to York U. Congrats on being so petty and immature that you guys can’t settle differences.

Shame on Bob Young for trying to tell a City how to develop.

Shame on Hamilton for letting this go so long so that it became a bigger issue in the first place.

I think it’s great that HostCo yanked the event from Hamilton. They at least had the balls to keep their shit together, make a decision and stick with it.

I won’t be surprised that no stadium gets built at all at this rate and leave all you fools whining and pointing fingers instead of building Hamilton to be the great City it can be.

Maybe I’ll come back to Hamilton, maybe I won’t. I certainly don’t care for the attitude it has regarding itself.

Boy, I am sooo glad the Ti-Cats are a bunch of whiny bitches…

Seriously, you have a major business partner in the city that refuses to behave.  The last time I was a child and said “no, I don’t wanna” to my parents earned me a good smack in the ass and sent to my room.  No single entity should tell the CITY what they should do.  Sure, they can express their concerns, sure they can say their preferences but to outright throw a temper tantrum is quite ridiculous.

I am quite glad never to have been any kind of real supporter of the team.  This latest little tactic is a fine example of the reason why.  Bob Young is simply the ‘i’ in team. (think about that one….)

It has surely been an entertaining read over the past few months but after today, it’ll be all the ‘over-the-shoulders’ type of comments as each party walks away from whatever decision is made by council.  Like the North End, it’ll be nothing more than a lingering foul smell in the air after some industrial plant produces some random material to be use in some product that’ll end up in the dump 5 years after it’s made.

To be honest, I hope the Ti Cats actually leave.  They’ll find that their ‘financial sustainability’ will drop way worse than anything they ever claimed about the West Harbour.  Oh, and good luck at having any kind of reasonable turn out from now till December.

Hey Bob, why not follow my wife & I to South Korea?  I hear they are looking for native-born english speaking people to work there…

Thanks for nothing Hamilton.

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Ok so here it is, 10 months later and the BEST I’ve been able to do is a 3 month contract for work. My wife is now unemployed. So me with some casual part-time work, and even some pure cash deals, cannot afford a mortgage, let alone rent any more.

There are no jobs. Oh I see the odd posting but nothing ever comes through. My house is falling apart, leaking from the roof and the basement now. I need to redo the whole of the outside basement wall weeping tiles and I need a whole new roof. That’s somewhere in the ballpark of $30,000. Not gonna happen. I hope I don’t ever run into the previous owners…they knew about the leaking basement. They knew they couldn’t afford the $20+ grand it would take to fix it. They knew.  Screw them.

So my wife has considered going back to Korea to teach English. This time, I am going with her. I’ll finish up with the house and sell it then I’m gone too.

Taxes are getting higher (HST) and a tax for ‘it’s ok not to make recyclable products as we’ll pass along that Gov’t fee onto the consumers” eco-fee bullshit.  Screw them.

There is simply no end to the bullshit that is going on around here.

Companies hire complete idiots because they want someone who is a mindless slave and refuses to think for themselves.  Screw them.

Why the hell are bus drivers getting paid upwards of $30/hr???  How much education did they need to get the job….oh yeah, that’s right….NOTHING.  Yet the technician that is the backbone of the system that supports every single transaction behind the scenes is barely getting $25….if he’s lucky.  Most technicians have more than paid for their way…$30K in school debt isn’t uncommon.  Welcome to the unbalanced world of “unions can do whatever the hell they want”.  Screw them.

People with money won’t give anyone a chance, despite the obvious long term benefit to society and directly, the city in which they live.  Screw them.

So screw you all. If there isn’t a single, decent company out there that can’t address any of these concerns, then why do I stay? I am fully aware of what I bring to the table and that scares the hell out of managers. I see it in their eyes. I see them trying to justify their own measly little existence because they are too scared to loose their own jobs. I see complacent people who think that “nothing will happen to me, I’m too valuable”… surprise suckers, welcome to the next round of “Outsource to India!”.

I’ve seen it too many times. One department gets outsourced. As soon as that happens, all other similar departments start looking at the idea that they can save more money and some dumb-ass manager will get a nice, big, fat bonus for saving a few bucks. It doesn’t matter that customer satisfaction will tank. Especially after the brand spanking new automated telephone system that is naught but an endless maze and it takes 20mins to get to a real live person for a 2min question. This is assuming that people have the stamina to wander around such a maze at all.

Yup, if you aren’t looking for a new job now, you are going to be sooo screwed when the hammer falls.

As for me, I’m outta here. There is nothing left that will allow me to continue ANY sort of existence here. Thanks for nothing Hamilton.
